Job Role: Senior Planning Director – Consumer Experiences
About the Role:
The Senior Planning Director is a strategic leader responsible for merging deep customer understanding with media and technology expertise. The individual in this position will be the strategic architect, building holistic brand and customer experience (CX) strategies that drive measurable growth for the clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding Customers & Building Insights:
- Leads all primary and secondary research efforts to map out detailed customer buying journeys , identifying key challenges, motivations, and moments of influence.
- Synthesizes complex information from different sources (research, data, trends) into a single, powerful human insight that guides the strategy.
- Develops rich customer personas that go beyond basic demographics to capture mindsets and actual behaviours.
- Designing Brand & Customer Experiences (CX):
- Translates customer insights into a complete Customer Experience (CX) strategy , defining how the brand should behave and interact across its entire ecosystem.
- Masters Brand Technology Ecosystems: Provides expert strategic consultation on how the client's current and future MarTech/AdTech stack (e.g., CDP, CRM, DMPs) can be leveraged or optimized to deliver the planned CX and capture data effectively.
- Develops clear and inspiring creative briefs that motivate creative teams to produce effective, on-strategy ideas.
- Planning Digital Media & Execution:
- Applies a deep understanding of the media and social platform world (Meta, Google, YouTube, etc.) to inform strategic recommendations.
- Defines the specific role of each channel in the customer journey, ensuring the right message is delivered at the right time and place.
- Develops precise audience targeting strategies using all available client data (first-party, second-party, and third-party) to accurately reach high-value customers.
- Oversees the strategic execution of performance marketing and programmatic media campaigns, including advanced Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) strategies.
- Analyzing Data & Optimizing Performance:
- Analyzes campaign performance data, including multi-touch attribution reports, and understands how data flows through the client's technology ecosystem to provide clear, actionable advice for continually improving media spend and creative messaging.
- Promotes a "Test and Learn" approach, developing test hypotheses for creative, audiences, and landing pages to continuously improve campaign results.
- Client & Team Leadership:
- Acts as the senior expert for clients, helping them connect their big-picture brand vision to clear business growth objectives, often involving the integration of new technologies.
- Translates complex media concepts and performance data into clear, compelling strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Fosters a strong, cooperative relationship between the strategy, creative, media, and analytics teams.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Requires 10+ years of experience in a strategic role (Agency or Brand-side).
- Core Expertise: Proven command of Media Strategy (Performance & Programmatic), expertise in Customer Journey Mapping (CX) , strong Analytical Skills , and a critical understanding of Marketing Technology (MarTech) Ecosystems (e.g., CDP, CRM integration).
