Job Description

On behalf of our global client, we are actively looking for a Senior PLC Programmer for one of their locations in Windsor, ON. This role will involve local and international travel, and the successful candidate must be willing to travel 60% of the time. Most travel will be cross border and will be only for the day, but some will require overnight stays.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with mechanical and controls engineering experts, as well as skilled trades professionals, throughout the programming, tryout, and installation phases of projects.
  • Execute PLC logic and programming tasks during the build and debug stages at our facilities and at customer sites during installation and launch phases.
  • Introduce programming enhancements to controls and logic systems based on customer changes or evolving manufacturing requirements.
  • Configure and set up smart devices such as cameras, nut runners, and drives, integrating them into active projects.
  • Collect data from machines according to specific customer requirements.
  • Identify and resolve system issues, conduct tryouts, and validate I/O signals and interference zones.
  • Thoroughly document all control logic changes in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Train PLC end-users at customer locations, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations.
  • Travel locally and internationally to customer sites to provide on-site assistance, ensuring successful project execution.
     
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, installing, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic automated equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Completed College or university program in Electrical Engineering/Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or Robotic Studies.
  • Ability to adapt work hours to accommodate customer production timelines when necessary.
  • Proficiency with various software platforms, including Rockwell, Siemens, and Omron and familiarity with integrating smart devices into automated systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Flexibility to travel to customer sites, including international locations.
