We combine the right people, proven processes, and specialized expertise to deliver results—ready to execute today. Driven by our commitment to the warfighter, we place their mission and success at the heart of everything we do.
We are seeking a Senior Principal Embedded Real-Time Software Developer/Integrator to support the development of next-generation autonomous avionics systems. At Raytheon, we pride ourselves on cultivating a mission-driven workforce that delivers superior solutions and drives technological excellence.
Your Role:
As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to design, develop, test, and integrate real-time embedded software for systems that include both hardware and FPGA-based firmware. This role is ideal for a technical leader with a deep background in embedded systems and a passion for innovation in complex, high-stakes domains like aerospace, robotics, medical, automotive, or IoT.
What You'll Do:
- Architect, develop, test, and debug embedded real-time software solutions that integrate with firmware and hardware systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine system requirements, improve testability, and ensure measurable, high-quality results.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering growth in technical and professional skills.
- Contribute to program proposals, design reviews (preliminary and critical), and overall system architecture decisions.
- Apply Agile and Lean development practices in coordination with Product Owners, Chief Engineers, and IPT members.
- Support and/or lead software integration activities with mission assurance and safety-critical requirements in mind.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Significant experience developing and integrating real-time embedded software in hardware-constrained systems.
- Experience in at least one of the following industries: defense, aerospace, telecom, robotics, medical devices, automotive, or IoT.
- Proven ability to lead design efforts and work collaboratively in an IPT environment.
- Strong understanding of hardware/software integration, firmware interaction, and real-time operating constraints.
- Ability to obtain program-specific access (U.S. Citizenship required).
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical programs and work with cutting-edge embedded systems alongside world-class engineering talent. If you're passionate about real-time systems and want to make a tangible impact, we invite you to join our team.
