Position Description: The General Manager - Process and Proposal will lead the process design and proposal activities for water and wastewater treatment projects. This role requires a highly skilled individual with a strong background in water treatment technologies, project management, and proposal development. The GM will oversee and guide the team responsible for technical studies, designing water & wastewater treatment plants, and ensuring all proposals are accurately developed and aligned with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the Process and Proposal team to ensure effective execution of projects and proposals.
• Oversee the preparation of high-quality technical proposals, ensuring compliance with tender requirements, specifications, and deadlines.
• Develop and implement processes to streamline proposal and design workflows.
• Foster collaboration between various departments such as Electrical, Instrumentation, and Procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables.

Design and Process Engineering:

• Lead the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, including technologies such as UF, RO, DM, MBR, MBBR, SBR, and others.
• Ensure that the process design is optimized, cost-effective, and technically sound, meeting client requirements.
• Oversee the development of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, control philosophies, and equipment specifications.
• Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adherence to technical requirements, budget, and timelines.

Proposal Management & Tendering:

• Review and analyze tender documents, understanding client specifications, requirements, and project scope.
• Responsible for making technical recommendations, pre-bid queries, and clarifications during the tendering process.
• Lead the preparation of comprehensive technical proposals, including design calculations, equipment specifications, and scope of supply.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure that the proposals meet the client's needs, are competitive, and align with the company’s capabilities.
• Oversee the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and project cost estimation.

Client Interaction & Stakeholder Management:

• Act as the key technical interface with clients during the proposal phase, ensuring all queries are addressed and their needs are understood.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment on project objectives and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and vendors to acquire necessary quotations, approvals, and technical feedback.

Technology & Innovation:

• Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies in the water and wastewater treatment industry that can enhance company offerings.
• Work closely with the Technical Solution Director to research, develop, and introduce new technologies that align with client needs and market trends.
• Lead pilot studies and field trials for new technologies, ensuring successful integration into ongoing projects.
• Collaborate with the Technical Solution Director to ensure that the company offers the best, most innovative, and sustainable solutions to clients.
• Research and introduce innovative technological solutions to provide clients with state-of-the-art, sustainable solutions.

Project Documentation & Reporting:

• Oversee the preparation and finalization of engineering documentation, including the Basic Engineering Package (BEP), operation & maintenance manuals, and all associated drawings and technical documents.
• Review operating results of plants, preparing detailed reports and case studies on plant performance.
• Prepare and present technological-based newsletters and press releases to highlight the company’s capabilities and project successes.

Coordination and Compliance:

• Ensure all project designs and proposals are compliant with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Liaise with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external consultants to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and guidelines.
• Coordinate closely with the Technical Solution Director (TSD) to ensure alignment between the design, proposal, and technical solution aspects of projects, ensuring that the solutions proposed are the most innovative, efficient, and technically sound.
• Collaborate with the TSD to review new technologies, assess feasibility, and ensure the integration of the latest technological advancements into proposals and project designs.

• Ensure that project designs and proposals reflect the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, with guidance from the TSD to offer cutting-edge, cost-effective solutions to clients.

Management Reporting:

• Report to the senior management on the progress of ongoing projects, proposals, and team performance.
• Assist in setting strategic goals and KPIs for the department in alignment with the company's objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• B. Tech/B. E /M. Tech/ M.E- Chemical engineering/ Environmental.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in process design and proposal management for water and wastewater treatment projects (ETP, STP, WTP, WWTP, etc.).
• Proven track record of leading and managing teams, developing high-quality technical proposals, and delivering complex engineering solutions.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with various water treatment technologies such as MBR, MBBR, Aerobic, Anaerobic, UF, RO, DM, SBR, and others.
• Multitasking, result oriented with ability to consistently meet deadline.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in process design, flow diagrams, P&IDs, control philosophies, and equipment specifications.
• Proficient in using process design software, engineering tools, and systems.
• Strong understanding of project cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and budgeting.

Leadership & Communication Skills:

• Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, consultants, and team members.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
