Senior Process Engineer

Clayton Services is searching for a Senior Process Engineer to join a growing company in the Houston area. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting process design, engineering studies, equipment specification, and providing technical expertise for large-scale projects. Pay Rate: $150,000-$160,000/year plus bonus

Senior Process Engineer Responsibilities:

Develop and run process simulations in Aspen/HYSYS or similar software

Prepare heat and material balances, PFDs, and P&IDs

Perform equipment sizing, selection, and specification

Conduct engineering studies and prepare design packages

Collaborate with project managers to meet schedule commitments

Participate in client reviews, including process hazard and operability analyses

Provide technical support for detailed engineering, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup

Work with controls specialists to develop DCS narratives and logic diagrams

Analyze and resolve technical challenges to ensure safety, compliance, and reliability

Ensure quality checks and accurate documentation of data inputs

Other duties as assigned

Senior Process Engineer Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of process engineering workflows and project delivery

Familiarity with biomass conversion, fluidized beds, carbon capture, fuels/methanation synthesis, and related technologies

Skilled in hydraulic analysis, control valve sizing, flare and relief valve calculations

Ability to work across teams and effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with sound judgment

Outgoing, collaborative, and motivated to contribute to team success

Senior Process Engineer Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required

10+ years of related process engineering experience

Expertise with AspenTech programs (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar)

Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar drafting tools preferred

HAZOP, HAZID, and Project Management training is a plus

Background in EPC and systems engineering strongly preferred

Experience with plant operations and process controls is a plus
