Job Summary: Our Product team builds and scales Toptal’s platform and products, working closely with Operations and Engineering to support growth. We embrace a data-focused approach to ensure each initiative on our product roadmap delivers meaningful impact. We’re looking for a self-starting Product Manager to drive innovation by expanding the breadth and depth of our product and service offering.

As a Product Manager, you will lead a team of engineers and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, and other Product Managers to define, build, and launch mission‑critical initiatives. You’ll drive end‑to‑end product discovery and delivery, using user research, data, and cross‑functional collaboration to identify new opportunities and deliver impactful solutions. This is a remote position; we do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead all aspects of an established agile team, including backlog grooming, triage and prioritization, and cross‑functional coordination.
  • Define the scope of new product features and ongoing feature improvements.
  • Write and prioritize user stories and define acceptance criteria.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of credibility with internal and external partners.
  • Break down complex problems and use data and analytics, coupled with high‑quality user research, to inform product direction.
  • Track progress, assess risks, coordinate delivery, and actively communicate contingency and mitigation plans.
  • Run ad‑hoc research and business analyses to assess opportunities and risks.
  • Take ownership of identifying and solving complex product challenges that align with short‑term goals and long‑term strategic initiatives.
  • Apply system‑analyst techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine functional specifications.

Onboarding Expectations

In the first week

  • Onboard, integrate into Toptal, and independently study the product suite.
  • Become acquainted with your product area, goals, and partners.

In the first month

  • Work cross‑functionally with other Product Managers to organize and prioritize your high‑level roadmap and backlog.
  • Start collaborating closely with your development team.
  • Takeover all in‑flight and planned initiatives.

In the first three months

  • Fully support a product category, working collaboratively to complete quarterly planning and set OKRs.
  • Launch features that deliver high business impact.
  • Own a development team.
  • Monitor and measure the success of initiatives against company goals.
  • Continuously improve the team’s processes through meaningful contributions.

In the first six months

  • Work alongside other Product Managers to discover new product opportunities.
  • Develop a repeatable model for delivering roadmap initiatives.
  • Refine roadmap, backlog, and processes to make improvements over time.
  • Re‑evaluate roadmap alignment with strategic goals and adjust as necessary.

In the first year

  • Deliver roadmap priorities and promises.
  • Ensure your team builds impactful products timely and elegantly.
  • Scale your team to support growing needs.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of proven software product management experience.
  • Ability to manage the full product lifecycle from discovery to execution.
  • Track record of owning major product initiatives from early‑stage exploration through launch and iteration.
  • Experience managing the development and launch of mobile, desktop, and web applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI product development processes and launching AI‑powered features that improve engagement, efficiency, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience building intelligent workflows and connecting systems and automation tools at scale.
  • Experience with third‑party system integrations is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with SQL or spreadsheets to analyze data and conducting user research.
  • Expertise in using data to make decisions with a variety of tools and methodologies.
  • Creative problem‑solving through a customer‑centric approach.
  • Ability to build wireframes and mockups with an aptitude for simplicity.
  • Meticulous quality standards in writing user stories, reviewing designs, and testing features before release.
  • Humble, willing to learn, and proactive in helping achieve goals.
  • Experience with agile methodologies in globally distributed teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growing environment and handle varied challenges.
