About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team on the Port Hedland Dampier Salt Concentrator Repair Upgrade Project. This is a pivotal role overseeing a critical civil works package, with a strong focus on earthworks. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in earthworks delivery and lead engineering efforts to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality outcomes in a remote environment. You’ll mentor junior engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive project success through technical leadership and problem-solving.
This role will be performed under a 2:1 FIFO Roster with flights from Perth, meals and accommodation provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering delivery of civil works with a primary focus on earthworks, including bulk excavation, compaction, and ground improvement
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet milestones
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to maintain strong working relationships
- Review and prepare technical documentation, drawings, and method statements
- Resolve design and constructability issues with innovative solutions
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and environmental obligations
- Support surveying, setting out, and dimensional control activities
- Drive value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management
- Mentor and support Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and Graduates
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (CPEng or RPEQ preferred)
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in civil infrastructure projects with a strong and proven background in earthworks - this is a mandatory requirement
- Strong understanding of Australian construction standards and codes
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental best practices
- Experience with contract administration and commercial management
