Senior Project Manager

Salary: AUD $80,000 - $100,000 + Super

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex infrastructure, asset renewal and transformation projects within a large operational environment supporting essential services.

This role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with governance, regulatory and risk frameworks typical of a critical infrastructure organisation.

The Right Candidate

Will deliver complex projects with calm control and sharp comms. And run delivery end-to-end with a strong PMO rhythm—tight planning, clean reporting, and practical issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of major infrastructure and asset-based projects, from initiation through to commissioning and close-out
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resourcing plans and risk registers
  • Provide strong stakeholder management across internal operational teams, engineering, vendors, regulators and executive leadership
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, governance and assurance frameworks
  • Manage procurement activities including RFPs, contract negotiation and vendor performance
  • Report on project performance, milestones, risks and issues using formal governance forums
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery practices and documentation standards
  • Mentor and support project team members and junior project managers where required

Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience delivering complex projects in infrastructure, utilities, energy, transport, or large asset-intensive organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Own scope, schedule, cost and quality for assigned projects
  • Manage vendors/contractors and coordinate internal delivery resources
  • Maintain RAID, action registers and governance packs
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and delivery transparency
  • Strong understanding of project governance, risk management and financial controls
  • Proven ability to operate in regulated or safety-critical environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • Experience working in regional or remote operating environments highly regarded
  • Awareness of cloud platforms, IoT integrations and enterprise systems integration

Qualifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) - desirable
  • CPPP (Certified Practising Project Practitioner) - desirable
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or a related discipline - highly regarded
  • Experience with hybrid delivery approaches (waterfall / agile) - desirable.

Job Specifics

  • Location: Darwin, Northern Territory (Regional Australia)
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days in office (Darwin), 2 days work from home
  • Residency Requirement: Must live in Darwin (or be available to relocate before commencement)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Ongoing (38+ hours per week)
