Senior Safety Coordinator
Position Overview
The Senior Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and client requirements on commercial construction projects. This role serves as a key resource for promoting a culture of safety, conducting training, and mitigating risks across multiple job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans in alignment with corporate safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments on active job sites.
- Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with corrective action plans.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for field personnel and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, and state regulations, as well as company policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of safety activities, including permits, logs, and reports.
- Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to identify and resolve safety concerns proactively.
- Mentor and support junior safety staff and assist in developing their professional growth.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues with clients and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of safety experience in commercial construction, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR required; CHST or CSP preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, risk management, and accident prevention strategies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
