Senior SAP Data Archiving Consultant (Classical Archiving)


Location: Remote (India)


Engagement: Full-Time


Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior SAP Data Archiving Consultant with deep hands-on experience in classical SAP Data Archiving using standard SAP tools (no ILM). The consultant will analyze, determine, and archive large data volumes across Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P / MM) processes while ensuring data integrity, business continuity, and audit compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and determine archivable data across:
  • OTC: Sales Orders, Deliveries, Billing Documents, Accounting documents
  • Procurement (P2P/MM): Purchase Orders, Goods Movements, Invoice Verification
  • Identify and manage data dependencies between OTC, MM, and FI
  • Design and execute classical SAP Data Archiving strategies using SARA
  • Configure and run archiving objects including:
  • Write
  • Delete
  • Test reload (as needed)
  • Define selection variants, residence times, and cutoff dates
  • Validate archived data through reconciliation and reporting checks
  • Coordinate with functional, basis, and business teams during archiving cycles
  • Ensure minimal business disruption during archiving execution
  • Document archiving logic, object dependencies, and validation results


Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on classical Data Archiving
  • Extensive hands-on experience with SAP SARA (non-ILM)
  • Strong knowledge of SAP archiving objects, including:
  • OTC: SD_VBAK, SD_VBRK, SD_DELIV
  • Procurement/MM: MM_EKKO, MM_MATBEL
  • FI: FI_DOCUMNT
  • Strong understanding of OTC and P2P business processes and underlying tables
  • Proven experience determining cross-module dependencies (SD ↔ MM ↔ FI)
  • Experience in ECC and/or S/4HANA environments
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, global delivery model
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills


Nice to Have

  • Experience with DB size reduction / performance improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of archiving reporting impacts and historical data access
  • Prior experience on large data volume or system cleanup projects
