Senior Social Planner / Senior Strategic Planner (Social Planning)

  Competitive salary package:  base salary + superannuation + allowances + paid overtime

 Location: Newcastle or Sydney

  Hybrid and part-time work arrangement available (3-4 days/week)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Planner to join this forward thinking consultancy in New South Wales. With continued growth across their Sydney and Newcastle offices, the emphasis is on professionals who are passionate about shaping positive social outcomes for communities and delivering high-quality advice to private and public-sector clients.

This is a forefront role in planning for the development of liveable, healthy and inclusive places and communities in New South Wales. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and help guide clients through complex social planning requirements.

Some key responsibilities are:

  • Lead the development and delivery of social planning services e.g. social strategies, social impact assessments (SIAs), community needs analysis and social infrastructure plans across Greater Sydney areas and Northern NSW/Hunter region.
  • Provide expert advice to public and private sector clients on social infrastructure and community development in greenfield areas as well as redevelopment of existing infill/brownfield urban areas.
  • Design and lead innovative research and consultation/engagement processes to identify community needs and trends

What we’re looking for

  • Relevant Qualifications: A background in social planning, sociology, human geography, anthropology, town planning, or a related social science or health science field with demonstrated understanding of applied social and health science research methods
  • Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in social planning principles and practices
  • Proven experience (ideally 6+ years) in community needs analysis, consultation, and the specific functional areas of social impact assessment.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills with the ability to draw on an evidence base to make compelling advices and strategies.
