Overview

The Etsy web Platforms & SRE initiative supports the foundational systems that powers the web and API for Etsy. Within this initiative, the Performance squad and API and Core Frameworks squad build tools for backend, web frontend, and native mobile apps teams to improve the developer experience at Etsy.

The Etsyweb Platforms & SRE initiative is looking for a UX-focused frontend developer to help improve the tools we build that our customers rely on to build and developer features at Etsy. We need someone to level up our interfaces, primarily for the web, by identifying customer needs, collaborating with other team members to build a project plan, and making the necessary changes to improve the experience of using our tools.

We are a full-stack company, so even though your main focus will be on the UX and frontend, you will also be expected to make any required backend changes to support your UX or frontend improvements.

Etsy's backend is PHP + MySQL and the frontend is a mix of React and jQuery.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customer needs and collaborate with team members to build a project plan to improve UX and frontend tooling.
  • Make necessary changes to improve the experience of using our tools (primarily web interfaces).
  • Level up interfaces and contribute to backend changes when needed to support frontend improvements.
  • Provide general support for the initiative and collaborate across teams as required.
  • Work across US timezones with Etsy's prime hours between 11 AM and 2 PM Eastern Time.

Qualifications

  • Must-Haves
    • Expert web frontend development experience, especially with React
    • UX/User Experience design
    • Intermediate backend development (ideally in PHP, but Python and Ruby are also good)
  • Nice-to-Haves
    • Previous experience building dashboards and reporting platforms
    • Previous experience building interfaces for internal customers
    • Advanced knowledge of PHP

This role is open to all work modes, including fully remote.
