About Our Client — Toorak Capital Partners

You will be part of a dedicated engineering team supporting Toorak Capital Partners, a leading U.S.-based integrated correspondent lending platform that funds residential, multifamily, and mixed-use real estate loans across the U.S. and U.K. Headquartered in Summit, New Jersey, Toorak’s leadership team brings deep expertise across real estate lending, capital markets, securitization, asset management, and credit. To date, Toorak-funded projects have renovated or stabilized housing for 9,000+ families — averaging 500+ families every month.This is a rare opportunity to build mission-critical, cloud-based mortgage technology platforms that directly support one of the most respected players in the global mortgage finance industry.

Role Overview

As a Backend Developer, you will work on developing cloud-based web applications and be part of a team building various web applications related to Mortgage Finance. This role offers hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and developing an enterprise-class product from the ground up, while working with modern cloud and microservices architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as a Backend Developer in developing cloud-based web applications
• Being part of a team working on various types of web applications related to Mortgage Finance
• Solving real-world problems by implementing, designing, and helping develop a new enterprise-class product from the ground up
• Design and build systems using AWS cloud infrastructure and microservices architecture
• Work extensively with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, and MySQL databases
• Build and deploy Docker-based, containerized solutions and applications
• Design and work with relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring scalability and performance
• Solve challenging problems by developing elegant, maintainable, and scalable code
• Deliver rapid iterations of software based on user feedback and measurable metrics
• Help the team make key decisions on product direction and technology choices
• Actively contribute to the adoption of frameworks, standards, and new technologies across the team

Required Skills & Experience

• 5 to 7 years of overall software development experience
• Node.js experience is mandatory
• At least 3+ years of experience, or experience delivering multiple large-scale products built using microservices architecture
• Strong design skills in microservices and AWS platform infrastructure
• Excellent programming skills in Node.js, JavaScript, and Python
• Hands-on experience developing REST APIs
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, including scalability and availability
