**About the Job:**
The OKD (OpenShift Kubernetes Distribution) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us and contribute to driving innovation through our open source community. This engineer will support the creation and maintenance of existing releases of OKD, the community distribution of Kubernetes that powers Red Hat OpenShift. This engineer will need to work with the upstream OKD community and with engineering teams across the product to identify, prioritize, and implement updates to existing and upcoming releases to improve OKD.
**What you will do?**
+ Develop features and bug fixes in Kubernetes and OKD within an agile team and as part of a global development organization.
+ Become responsible for our product quality, participate in peer code reviews, continuous integration and delivery, respond to security threats
+ Follow the Kubernetes community and proactively implement important improvements from the project in our product.
+ Collaborate with our upstream community and other engineering teams to understand when changes are too risky and when they may be inappropriate for existing software release.
+ Mentor and lead other engineers; helping them to grow and ensuring best practices are followed to generate high quality outcomes.
+ Explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies relevant to software development, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling.
**What you will bring?**
+ Expertise in at least one or more programming languages such as Go/Python/Java and interest to switch to language Go.
+ Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
+ Familiar with test-based development and agile or scrum methodologies.
+ Familiarity with operating systems Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CoreOS, Fedora.
+ Experience with container-related technologies like Docker or Kubernetes; experience with OKD is considered a plus.
+ Prior participation in open source community software development is a benefit.
+ Strong understanding of technical documentation best practices and implementation is a big plus.
