Job Description
The HES Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Head-End System (HES) in an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) environment. This role has a strong focus on application-level support using .NET Core and PostgreSQL, along with operational support of smart metering systems. The engineer will ensure stable system performance, quick issue resolution, and smooth data flow between smart meters and downstream systems like MDM, billing, and analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain HES applications built on .NET Core.
  • Troubleshoot application, data, and integration issues across HES, MDM, billing, and analytics systems.
  • Write and optimize queries in PostgreSQL for data validation, investigation, and reporting.
  • Monitor system health, logs, and data flow to ensure SLA adherence.
  • Handle production incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive fixes.
  • Support integrations using REST/SOAP APIs and messaging systems (e.g., MQTT).
  • Work closely with field, network, and business teams for issue resolution.
  • Perform configuration, patching, and upgrades of HES-related components.
  • Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, and support reports.

Requirements

Core Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience in .NET Core / C# application support and troubleshooting.
  • Good hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (writing queries, joins, performance analysis).
  • Understanding of API-based integrations (REST/SOAP).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and log analysis.
  • Understanding of production support processes (incident, problem, change management). 

Smart Metering & AMI Knowledge:

  • Experience with AMI/AMR systems, HES/MDM platforms.
  • Knowledge of communication technologies: RF Mesh, PLC, Cellular (2G/3G/4G/5G), NB-IoT, LoRaWAN.
  • Familiarity with protocols: DLMS/COSEM, IEC 62056, MQTT.
  • Understanding of network basics: IP, VPN, firewalls, DNS.

Scripting (Optional)

  • Basic scripting using Python/Shell is good to have but not mandatory.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in: HES/AMI operations/Utility IT systems/IoT or large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with leading HES platforms such as: Secure, Itron, Sensus, Landis+Gyr, CyanConnode, Oracle, Honeywell, etc.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is an added advantage. 

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 support or on-call environment if required.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.


Requirements
Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed project plans, including defining the scope, objectives, timeline, budget, and resource allocation for the AMISP project. Establish project goals, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring they align with both business and client objectives. Monitor and track project progress, ensuring that activities stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards. Identify potential project risks and issues and develop strategies to mitigate their impact on the project’s timeline and deliverables. Regularly communicate with stakeholders to provide status updates, report on risks or issues, and suggest corrective actions when necessary. Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, ensuring optimal use of assets to achieve project success. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders to promote collaboration and ensure alignment with project goals. Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring that expenses are monitored and controlled within the approved limits. Track and control any changes to the project scope, ensuring they are documented, reviewed, and approved through formal change control processes. Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. Proactively address conflicts or challenges within the project team or with external stakeholders to keep the project on track. Manage project documentation, ensuring that records of project decisions, changes, and milestones are organized and accessible. Facilitate regular project meetings, including status updates, risk assessments, and issue resolution discussions with the project team and stakeholders. Ensure effective communication across all project stakeholders, facilitating clear and transparent information flow at all project stages. Provide leadership and motivation to the project team, fostering an environment of focus, productivity, and enthusiasm for project goals. Track and report on key project performance metrics, including cost, time, quality, and resource utilization, to ensure continuous improvement and effective project delivery. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus). Proven experience (10+ years) in project management, ideally in the AMISP or infrastructure sector. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate with various stakeholders. Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.). Ability to manage budgets, timelines, resources, and risks effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure or technical projects is preferred.
