We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II who is passionate about high throughput asynchronous event exchange. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Building gRPC APIs using Go Lang

  • Architecting an eventing model to be adopted widely by many developers and products

  • Working closely with engineering teams to help them adopt the eventing system and replace legacy components

  • Develop code to implement custom event aggregation solutions based on specific engineering requirements.

  • Automate as much of the operational work as possible to allow time for innovation

    • Key Metrics: 

  • gRPC API request throughput (queries per second)

  • End-to-end request latency and response time

  • Error rate in gRPC calls and event processing

  • Event aggregation accuracy

  • Automation coverage of operational tasks and deployment frequency

    • What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Go, Python or Java. We primarily use Go

  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka, RedPanda, or similar event streaming platforms

  • Strong understanding of API design principles, including REST and RPC architectures

  • Familiarity with configuration management, deployment automation, and instrumentation.

  • An appreciation of SRE principles, along with utilizing data and automation to improve systems.

  • Excellent communication skills. We work intimately with product teams to ensure our customers have the observability they need to be successful on our platform.

  • You have strong opinions when it comes to building and using APIs and you can articulate the reasons why

  • Huge bonus points 
  • if you’ve built an eventing or asynchronous communication bus in the past

  • Have familiarity with Analytics database such as Click House , Redshift or BigQuery
