Senior Product Engineer, EU

Join the Ashby team to build impactful, end‑to‑end product features. We are looking for a full‑stack engineer focused on solving customer problems and building scalable solutions with a blend of product ownership and engineering expertise.

Base Pay Range

£80,000 – £110,000 (gross). Your actual salary will be determined by experience and skills, based on the Edinburgh pay bands.

About the Role and How We Work

We do not have a traditional daily‑standup, sprint planning, or rigid process. Engineers own the entire feature lifecycle—from research and specification, through design, implementation, and iteration—with minimal oversight. You will write product specs, create wireframes, and implement features end‑to‑end while collaborating closely with product managers and designers.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and ship full‑stack product features for the Ashby platform.
  • Research customer problems, write detailed product specs, and design user interfaces.
  • Build scalable, maintainable code in TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, Postgres, and Redis.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback and data.
  • Mentor peers by sharing knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Comfortable across the entire technology stack – frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Experience tackling ambiguity and building complex systems.
  • Good balance of speed and quality, with a focus on iterating to a high‑quality product.
  • Strong communication skills; can collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Empowered to own projects and drive ownership across the team.

Interview Process
  • Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15‑30 min).
  • Technical screen – pair‑programming on a real problem in our codebase (1 h).
  • Three non‑coding rounds focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈ 3 h 15 min).
  • Optional recruiter screen (30 min).
Your First Three Months

Dev environment set up with a single script. Your first task is to ship a small product change on day one. Gradually work on larger, more impactful features while receiving regular feedback from your manager at 30‑day, 60‑day, and 90‑day milestones.
