Software Development Engineer in Test
(Senior SDET)
Location: Hyderabad
About the Role
As a Senior SDET, you will own end-to-end quality for critical modules and services, driving
test strategy, automation, and risk reduction across the delivery lifecycle.
This role goes beyond execution. You will act as a quality owner and technical leader—
shaping test strategies and plans, influencing engineering decisions, mentoring SDET-1 and
SDET-2 engineers, and ensuring quality is engineered into the system from day one.
You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Dev Ops to ensure releases are
predictable, scalable, and production-safe.
Key Responsibilities
● Own module/service-level quality across UI, API, and data layers.
● Ensure assigned modules are regression-ready before release, with a strong
focus on improving automation effectiveness and reducing manual effort.
● Create and own test plans for low to medium complexity epics and patch releases
● Identify risks early and drive mitigation before they become release blockers
● Drive UI and API automation coverage for the owned modules.
● Ensure automation is stable, maintainable, and reliable (low flakiness).
● Own dashboards and metrics to track coverage, stability, and effectiveness.
● Identify and document gaps, risks, and open questions before development begins
● Conduct QE demos for major releases, highlighting coverage, risks, and confidence
levels.
● Contribute to defining and enforcing quality gates across the delivery pipeline.
● Ensure automated tests are integrated into CI/CD workflows.
● Mentor SDET 1 and SDET 2 engineers on Test design and risk analysis, Automation
best practices. What We’re Looking For
Must Have
● 5–8 years of experience in Quality Engineering / Test Automation.
● Strong hands-on experience with UI automation (Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent).
● Strong API testing and automation experience (Rest Assured, Postman, Swagger, or similar).
● Solid programming skills in Java or Python.
● Experience owning test strategy and quality outcomes for complex features.
● Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
● Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-team decisions.
● Experience testing microservices-based architectures.
Nice to Have
● Experience with performance testing (k6, JMeter, or similar).
● Exposure to security testing fundamentals (OWASP Top 10).
● Familiarity with cloud-native and containerized environments.
● Proven end-to-end ownership of quality deliverables.
● Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and quality gates, including test execution, reporting, and
release readiness bottlenecks.
