About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer – End User Computing (EUC) to join Elsevier’s EUC Enterprise Engineering team. This is a senior-level role focused on delivering robust, scalable, and high-impact EUC solutions that empower our global workforce.

As a senior systems engineer within the team, you'll take ownership of critical systems, drive the execution of strategic initiatives, and bring deep expertise across enterprise technologies. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless solution delivery, mentor other engineers, and lead efforts that continuously improve our platform's performance, reliability, and automation.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing improvement of complex EUC solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.

  • Act as a senior escalation point for high-impact technical issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution.

  • Drive the delivery of enterprise infrastructure projects, working closely with engineering leads, service planning leads, and internal stakeholders.

  • Identify and execute automation and process improvement opportunities, reducing manual overhead and boosting efficiency across EUC operations.

  • Guide and support junior and mid-level engineers through mentorship, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Ensure platform stability and performance through proactive monitoring, tuning, and incident response.

  • Partner with IT operations, security, and business stakeholders to align technology solutions with user needs and compliance requirements.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, supporting the OCC/NOC and delivering after-hours support when necessary.

  • Requirements

  • Deep technical expertise in EUC platforms including Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, Active Directory, Azure, and AWS.

  • Advanced hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, as well as strong working knowledge of MacOS and Linux in enterprise settings.

  • Solid understanding of network services such as DNS, DHCP, and enterprise connectivity.

  • Practical experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SCOM) and scripting/automation using PowerShell or similar languages.

  • Demonstrated ability to own complex systems end-to-end, from planning and deployment through to support and continuous improvement.

  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative, delivery-focused mindset.

  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments, ideally within regulated industries or global organizations.
