Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Position Overview:
This role supports an enterprise data warehouse environment built on the Teradata ecosystem. The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a platform administrator responsible for the stability, performance, security, and long-term strategy of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The environment consists of multiple platforms, including Production, Test, and Development/Disaster Recovery, and supports high-performance analytics, data mining, and decision-support capabilities for a large and diverse user base.
Core Responsibilities:
· Serve as the platform administrator for the Enterprise Data Warehouse across Production, Test, and Development/Disaster Recovery environments
· Provide technical planning, implementation, and delivery of EDW platform services and supporting technologies
· Research and coordinate long-term EDW strategies with internal stakeholders, leadership, and vendor partners
· Manage vendor communications, escalated troubleshooting, release management, and patching activities
· Provide operating system guidance and EDW security expertise
· Advise supported organizations on disaster recovery planning related to EDW platforms and dependent business applications
· Monitor platform performance and lead resolution of performance-related issues
· Provide direct technical expertise and support to database administrators and technical specialists across the enterprise
Requirements
Technical Requirements (3+ years experience required in each):
· Teradata database administration
· Teradata upgrades, provisioning, software maintenance
· Scripting (BASH, Perl, Python, Glink)
· Teradata ecosystem health monitoring
· Teradata node management
· Teradata Viewpoint administration
· Teradata Tools and Utilities (TTU)
· PSIM (Platform Service Intelligent Monitoring) administration
· Teradata vendor upgrades
· Teradata workload management
· Teradata backup and recovery
· Performance tuning and resource optimization
· Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
· Firewall concepts and implementation
· Unix/Linux operating systems
· Cloud computing fundamentals, including resource allocation and networking (Microsoft Azure preferred)
· Applied statistics
· Audits and security plans
· Compliance with federal standards and regulations (e.g., NIST 800-53, IRS Pub 1075, SSA, Medicaid)
Environment & Scope:
· Supports an enterprise data warehouse serving multiple organizations and agencies
· User base exceeds 10,000 internal and external users
· Data footprint exceeds 40 TB
· Role collaborates closely with leadership, vendors, and technical teams to ensure secure, high-availability EDW services
