As a Senior Systems Performance Modeling & Simulation Engineer in the R&D group, you will be responsible for developing advanced physics-based and empirical modeling and simulation environments for electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems used in distributed energy resources and power distribution. Collaborating with subject matter experts, product strategy teams, and systems engineers, you will create accurate and efficient simulations that meet requirements and support product development. Through your expertise, you will play a key role in driving innovation and performance improvements in distributed energy and power distribution systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent5+ years of experience in systems simulationProficiency in time-domain simulation software such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools for pure simulation or real time operating platformsKnowledge of multi-physics modeling software such as Simscape, Simcenter Amesim, GT Suite, or similarProficient in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), model-in-loop (MIL), and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation platforms, including the integration of plant and controls modelsExperience with HIL platforms including dSpace, speedgoat, NI, or others for testing of controls systemsStrong understanding of renewable energy systems including solar, wind, power conversion, and battery energy storage systems. Knowledge of power distribution concepts including uninterrupted power supply, power converters, switchboards, and other power electronicsFamiliarity with thermal management systems for battery energy storage, HVAC systems for power distribution enclosures, and their characterization as required for performance-level modeling and simulation Demonstrated implementation of real-world power generation and distribution problems into complex modeling and simulation platformsDemonstrated development and implementation of modular component models with scalable flexibility for various levels of simulation fidelityPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Advanced degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with demonstrated simulation experienceStrong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to the relevant energy technologies: Microgrid, Power generation, and Energy storageExperience with Python, C++, or similar environments for development of optimization tools and controls logicExperience with machine learning models generated from dataExperience with integration of technoeconomic analysis with systems modeling and simulationExperience with development of SIL, MIL, and HIL platforms for verification and validation of controls softwareExperience using version control for modeling and simulation including Git or other similar toolsComputational Fluid Dynamics Software experienceTravel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
Work Location - This is an onsite position located out of our office in Menasha, WI. Candidates are required to be in the office 2 to 3 days per week.
