Senior Tax Analyst

We are excited to partner with them to find a Senior Tax Analyst to join their finance team in Canada. This is a hybrid or remote role for an experienced tax professional that is excited to make a difference in the world in the work they do.
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Senior Tax Analyst plays a key role in managing Kraken Robotics’ tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities across multiple jurisdictions. This is a new position in a fast growing organization, supporting both Canadian and international tax functions — including income tax provisions under IFRS, indirect taxes (GST/HST, VAT, state sales/use), transfer pricing, and R&D tax incentives. The successful candidate will work closely with finance leadership and external advisors to ensure compliance, optimize tax efficiency, and support the company’s continued global growth.
Responsibilities include:
Tax Compliance and ReportingPrepare and coordinate corporate income tax filings for Canadian and foreign subsidiaries (U.S., U.K., Brazil, Germany). Assist in preparing quarterly and annual IFRS tax provisions, including current/deferred tax calculations and related note disclosures. Maintain supporting schedules for temporary differences, loss carry forwards, SR&ED credits, and other tax attributes. Coordinate with external advisors for local filings and ensure timely submissions in all jurisdictions.
Indirect TaxReview and file monthly/quarterly GST/HST returns, and coordinate U.S. sales tax and international VAT compliance. Support internal controls and reconciliations related to indirect tax accounts. Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on Kraken’s operations.
Tax Planning and ResearchSupport implementation of efficient cross-border tax structures, transfer pricing documentation, and intercompany transactions. Conduct technical research and prepare memos on emerging tax issues (e.g., SR&ED, digital services taxes, BEPS Pillar Two). Participate in special projects such as acquisitions, ERP implementations, and financing arrangements to assess tax implications.
R&D and IncentivesCollaborate with engineering and finance teams to identify and substantiate eligible SR&ED and other innovation-related tax credits. Assist in preparing technical summaries and supporting documentation for claims.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required In-Depth Tax course considered an asset Experience with multi-currency and multi-company consolidations is desired Progressive experience in public company financial reporting, consolidation, and systems management. Strong IFRS technical knowledge, with proven experience preparing financial statement tax disclosures. Experience with IFRS income tax accounting and multi-jurisdictional filings (Canada/U.S./U.K. preferred). Exposure to SR&ED, transfer pricing, and/or international tax planning considered an asset.
