Tooling Engineer

Marietta, GA

$3,320/Weekly

The Senior Tooling Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing tooling in a high-complexity aerospace environment. This role provides technical leadership across tooling design, digitization, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing tooling
  • Design and develop complex tools, molds, jigs, and fixtures for aircraft applications
  • Review and approve tooling designs, drawings, and engineering change documentation
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring tooling and production issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool life, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and product engineering teams
  • Coordinate with tooling suppliers to support tools designed and implemented
  • Oversee tooling trials, validation, and production readiness activities
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support the digitization of complex tools, molds, jigs, and fixtures
  • Review and verify digitized tooling data for accuracy against scanned tools
  • Provide technical guidance to teams performing digitization activities
  • Provide full onsite support at the Lockheed Martin Marietta, GA facility
  • Ability to walk extended distances on the shop floor as required
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
  • Prior Lockheed Martin tooling experience preferred, but not required
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of aircraft or aerospace tooling experience
  • Advanced knowledge of tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and process optimization
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
