We are currently looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting a range of mining operations and projects. This contract role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys applying technical expertise in real-world environments and working closely with operational, project, and environmental teams.
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: $85 - $105 per hour
Location: Perth CBD
The Role
In this role, you will provide specialist input across surface water management, flood assessments, and water infrastructure design. You will be involved in both studies and project delivery, helping ensure water-related risks are well understood and effectively managed across sites.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll contribute to planning, design, and approvals activities, while supporting safe, compliant, and practical water outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Analyse rainfall, hydrology, and surface water data to support studies and project decisions

Deliver hydrological and hydraulic assessments for mine sites and associated infrastructure

Design and review surface water management solutions such as diversions, floodways, culverts, and drainage systems

Provide technical guidance to project, environment, and construction teams throughout project delivery

Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports, design documentation, and scopes of work

Support water-related approvals and regulatory requirements

Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors

Identify opportunities to improve water management approaches and technical processes
About You
-
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline

Around 8+ years' experience in water resources, surface water, or flood engineering roles
-
Solid background in hydrology, flood modelling, hydraulic analysis, and stormwater design
-
Hands-on experience with tools such as RoR, TUFLOW, and HEC-RAS, plus GIS capability

Experience in mining, consulting, or complex project environments is highly regarded
-
Familiarity with water approvals and licensing processes is advantageous

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Practical, solutions-driven mindset with strong attention to detail
