The Service Engineer – Chillers & HVAC Systems is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of chiller plants and HVAC systems. The role ensures optimal system performance, energy efficiency, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

*Key Responsibilities
Technical & Service Responsibilities *

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of chillers (air-cooled, water-cooled, screw, centrifugal, scroll) and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Carry out installation, testing, and commissioning of chillers and HVAC equipment.
  • Conduct performance checks, system balancing, and efficiency optimization.
  • Handle refrigerant charging, recovery, and leak detection in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain and service AHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, pumps, valves, VFDs, and associated equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control logic.

*Controls & Automation *

  • Troubleshoot BMS, PLC, sensors, actuators, and HVAC control systems.
  • Interface HVAC equipment with Building Management Systems (BMS).

*Customer & Reporting Responsibilities *

  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients on system operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare service reports, maintenance logs, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
  • Ensure timely closure of service calls and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Coordinate with service coordinators, spare parts teams, and subcontractors.

*Health, Safety & Compliance *

  • Follow company safety procedures and statutory regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local HVAC codes, environmental regulations, and refrigerant handling norms.
  • Maintain tools, test instruments, and service vehicles (if applicable).

*Job Requirements
Education *

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or HVAC & Refrigeration.
  • Relevant technical certification in HVAC or refrigeration is an advantage.

*Experience *

  • 2–8 years of hands-on experience in servicing chillers and HVAC systems.
  • Experience with OEMs or large HVAC service providers preferred.
  • Exposure to commercial, industrial, or data center HVAC systems is a plus.

*Technical Skills *

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics

  • Chiller systems and components
  • HVAC electrical systems and controls
  • BMS and automation systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools such as:

  • Multimeters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors

  • Vibration analyzers and insulation testers (preferred)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and system optimization practices.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and customer-handling abilities
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Willingness to travel and work on-call as required
