Job Description
This is a Senior ServiceNow Developer / Technical Lead–type role, focused on Client-side and platform development.
1 Depending on the team, it can be aligned to:
- AI Experiences (Virtual Agent / Now Assist / GenAI) OR
- ITX / Technology workflows (ITSM, ITAM, SPM, Change, etc.)
It is not a functional/admin-only role — it is hands-on development.
2. Experience expectation
- 6–10 years total experience in software or platform development
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow "Client" development
- For mid-level roles: 5–7 years
- For Tech Leads: closer to 8–10 years, with design + mentoring responsibility
They want someone who can design, build, debug, and lead solutions, not just configure.
3. Core technical skills (Must-have)
These are non-negotiable:
ServiceNow / Client-side development
- JavaScript (strong fundamentals)
- Client Scripts
- Glide scripting
- Script Includes
- Scheduled Jobs
This means deep understanding of how ServiceNow works under the hood, both client-side and server-side.
4. Backend & integration skills
They expect you to:
- Design backend APIs
- Work with data models and structures
- Build and support integrations for content delivery and search
- Use REST / SOAP integrations
This points to enterprise-level implementations, not small enhancements.
5. Troubleshooting & platform ownership
You should be able to:
- Debug issues across end-to-end content pipelines
- Identify root causes across multiple components
- Do platform-level troubleshooting, not just fix scripts
This is a senior responsibility.
6. Ways of working
- Comfortable in Agile / Scrum
- Used to working with distributed / global teams
Communication and collaboration matter.
7. Specialization tracks (important)
The JD splits into two possible focus areas:
A. AI Experiences Track
Must Have
- Strong ServiceNow Client development fundamentals
Nice to Have
- Virtual Agent
- Now Assist
- Any AI / GenAI exposure
AI knowledge is a bonus, but ServiceNow dev skills are mandatory.
B. ITX / Technology Workflows Track
Must Have
- Strong ServiceNow Client development fundamentals
Nice to Have
- ITAM
- SPM
- ITSM Change Management
Domain knowledge helps, but again, development skills come first.
8. Additional "good to have" platform skills
These strengthen the profile but are not mandatory:
- Service Portal
- UI Builder
- REST / SOAP integrations
- Advanced scripting
- Platform-specific troubleshooting
