Requirements

1. At least three years of relevant experience.
2. Must have a trade certificate.
3. Read, write, and understand English.
4. Must be able to:
1. Read technical drawings.
2. Design and fabricate sheetmetal products, such as HVAC ducting, cladding including lobster-backs, piping, and tubing.
3. Use bench top tools and equipment.
4. Use hand tools.
5. Use machine tools for ductwork manufacture.
6. Weld stainless steel ductwork (TIG/MIG).
7. Stick weld metal (light fabrication).
8. Use CNC Vulcan / Camduct for ductwork entry into the computer.
9. Use a drafting package.
10. Have basic computer literacy skills.
11. Take site measures.
12. Obtain a police clearance / defence clearance.
13. Pour polyurethane foam insulation for pipework cladding.
5. Additional advantageous skills include:
1. Using the balometer for air balancing.
2. Understanding the SMACNA standards related to ductwork manufacture.
