While working in a safe, effective manner, always keeping quality in mind, working in a cooperative team environment to feed, remove and package Burrows Paper Corporation products. Supervise and ensure compliance with all safety, quality, production, waste, housekeeping, and cost reduction goals for all shift employees, as well as other aspects of their job. Ensure that all employees are properly trained and equipped to perform their jobs to achieve and exceed Company goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
Understand, administer, and enforce all corporate and plant safety and compliance rules to employees under direct supervisionUtilize lockout/tagout as required and ensure employees are following all procedures as specified. Ensure guarding is always in placeMonitor and ensure employees have a safe work environmentReinforce PPE policies, requiring all employees to wear steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair nets/beard nets, etcEnsure entire production area is kept clean and organized during shift, in accordance with 6S standardsEnsure that all employees have received safety training, under the direction of the Compliance ManagerMonitor and ensure that all employees on assigned shift are following all applicable food safety policies and proceduresContinually monitor all aspects of quality of bags and bales, ensuring all corporate and plant management quality procedures are followed, thus improving quality and meeting waste standardsMeet or exceed production goals for shift set by managementSupervise job performance of employees on assigned shift, making sure their work runs on schedule and meets company standards for safety, quality, production, and wasteMake sure machines are properly lubricated and adjusted correctly to maintain optimal machines speeds and are manned as necessaryAssign employees to other machines if breakdowns occur, and repair and adjust as necessaryFollow priority schedule to ensure it is met to maintain customer satisfactionEnter daily production and downtime records into the computerContinually monitor all waste in assigned area, making sure it meets plant management waste standards and goalsFollow GMP in compliance with all food safety requirementsUnderstand labor agreement and company policies and procedures and hold employees on shift accountable according to the guidelines set forth in the agreement and by managementCommunicate with Human Resources to eliminate turnover issuesVerify payroll hours for shift. Ensure and manage overtime to keep costs to a minimum. Handle Kronos system approvals and correctionsAnswer employee inquiries concerning issues such as vacation time approval or current attendance point statusAdminister corrective actions based on employee attendance per labor agreementEvaluate employee performances, with input from Adjuster Supervisors, and administer counseling and/or disciplinary action. Make sure problems are brought to the attention of the Production ManagerTrain shift employees on all standards, and discipline as necessary, working with Human ResourcesMake decisions based on retraining and retention, along with Production Manager, Human Resources Manager, and Compliance Manager, with input from Adjuster SupervisorsAttempt to answer first step grievances, with involvement from Human ResourcesCoordinate employee breaks and meal periods to ensure they are taken per requirements and not abusedMeet/achieve safety, quality, production, waste, housekeeping, and cost goals set forth by management Qualifications
H.S. diploma or general education degree (GED)Must have at least 2-year experience in ManufacturingComputer skills: MS Office: Outlook, Word and ExcelAbility to multitask and manage high workflowAble to lift 50 lbsMust be able to motivate, coach, and train new employeesWorks well independently or in a team environmentWorks well with little or no supervisionAbility to provide constructive feedback to trainees and management staffMust possess basic math and computer skillsMust possess the ability to solve problemsMust be capable of working in extreme weather conditions (hot and cold temperatures)Must be capable of standing for long periods of timeMust have basic trouble shooting abilitiesMust have excellent communication skillsMust be able to read and comprehend EnglishDue to fluctuating production levels, may be asked to work beyond normal scheduled work hours or less than normal scheduled work hours You should be proficient in:
