**Job Title: Shipping Clerk**

**Location:** Tacoma, WA
**Employment Type:** Full-Time/ Contract to hire
**Department:** Manufacturing / Optical Lab Operations
**Days/Shifts:** M-F 8am- 5pm(Weekends occasional, OT opportunities)

We are seeking a motivated **Associate Technician** with strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a desire to learn. In this dynamic production environment, you’ll play an essential role in creating high‑quality lenses that empower people to see the world clearly.

What You’ll Do

You will begin by specializing in one core production area, with opportunities for cross‑training across departments. Responsibilities may include:

Shipping & Material Handling (New Additions)

+ Support inbound and outbound shipping activities by preparing, receiving, and staging materials according to established procedures and training.
+ Receive, verify, and sort frames and lenses to ensure correct identification and routing within the facility.
+ Accurately scan, label, and document materials to maintain system and inventory accuracy.
+ Follow defined standard work to organize, store, and move frames and lenses to designated production areas.
+ Perform visual checks to identify damage, discrepancies, or handling issues and escalate per procedure.
+ Adhere to all safety, quality, and productivity expectations in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Coating Department

+ Clip and secure lenses into baskets to begin coating processes.
+ Operate coating machinery, including loading chemicals and preparing sectors.
+ Inspect lenses to ensure optical and cosmetic accuracy.

Finishing Department

+ Use bevel wheel equipment to remove sharp lens edges.
+ Mount and align lenses into frames with precision.
+ Operate edging machines to cut lenses to exact specifications.
+ Prepare uncut lenses for processing by marking alignment points and attaching blocks.
+ Tint lenses accurately and consistently.
+ Inspect finished lenses and frames to ensure they meet quality standards.

Surfacing Department

+ Use blocking machines to secure blocks to lenses before surfacing.
+ Apply protective tape to lens surfaces.
+ Operate fine‑and‑polish machines to achieve correct optical finish.
+ Wash, dry, and visually inspect lenses for defects.
+ Remove blocks and tape from lenses safely and efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ 1+ year of related experience (manufacturing or lab setting preferred).
+ High mechanical aptitude.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Good manual dexterity and depth perception.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Ability to meet measurable standards in a fast‑paced environment.
+ Strong organizational abilities.

Working Conditions

+ Standing/walking for the entire shift.
+ Work performed around chemicals.
+ Work areas may be wet, dusty, or have strong odors.
+ Ability to work overtime as needed.

**Pay Details:** $18.61 per hour
