Role Summary:
The E-commerce Integration Developer is a hands-on backend developer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining system integrations between Shopify and Order Management Systems (OMS) using Pipe17. This role owns the technical integration layer, building API-driven and event-based workflows that enable real-time synchronization of orders, inventory, fulfillment, and commerce data across platforms. The developer ensures scalability, data integrity, and reliability across omnichannel commerce systems while minimizing manual intervention.
Key ResponsibilitiesShopify Backend Integration Develop and maintain Shopify backend integrations to support order lifecycle, inventory synchronization, and fulfillment workflows
Implement and manage Shopify APIs and webhooks for real-time order, inventory, fulfillment, refund, and cancellation events
Ensure Shopify storefront, POS, and marketplace channels are correctly integrated with downstream systems
Monitor and troubleshoot API performance, data consistency, and synchronization issues
Pipe17 Integration & Orchestration Design, configure, and maintain Pipe17 integration pipelines connecting Shopify with OMS, ERP, WMS, 3PLs, and other fulfillment systems
Build and maintain data mappings, transformations, and routing logic for orders, inventory, products, returns, and shipments
Implement error handling, retries, reconciliation, and monitoring to ensure reliable data flow across systems
Diagnose and resolve integration failures, latency issues, and data mismatches
OMS Integration & Workflow Engineering Integrate Shopify with OMS platforms to support order orchestration, inventory visibility, and fulfillment logic
Ensure accurate and performant handling of splits, backorders, cancellations, and fulfillment routing
Optimize OMS workflows to prevent overselling, reduce fulfillment delays, and improve operational reliability
Engineering Collaboration & Enablement Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to align integration architecture with business requirements
Work with external vendors and partners on technical integration design and troubleshooting
Create and maintain technical documentation, integration runbooks, and system diagrams
Support internal teams by providing guidance on integration behavior and system dependencies
Required Skills & Experience Strong experience as a Backend or Integration Developer
Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs, webhooks, and backend integrations
Practical experience building and maintaining Pipe17 integrations
Solid understanding of Order Management Systems (OMS) and e-commerce order lifecycles
Experience with API-based data flows, event-driven systems, and system orchestration
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams
