Overview

Maker Lab is a marketing agency designed to build decentralised technology-led agency teams, rooted in collaboration with clients from the ground up. Our cross-functional teams of multidisciplinary specialists are embedded into client teams across digital marketing competencies — from measurement & analytics to content production. This role supports our agency partner Miroma Project Factory as a contractor to build and integrate platforms.

Role

• Architect and lead the development of high-performance, scalable headless e-commerce storefronts using Shopify
• Own the end-to-end deployment pipeline, managing and optimising Hydrogen builds on Shopify Oxygen
• Integrate with Shopify's Storefront API and Admin API, as well as a range of third-party services (e.g., Headless CMS, PIM, ERP, and other marketing tools)
• Monitor and optimise Core Web Vitals, API response times, and the overall user experience
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions
• Act as a technical leader within the team, mentoring other developers, conducting code reviews, and establishing best practices for Hydrogen development
• Stay aligned with Shopify roadmap, prototyping new features and advising on technical strategy

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of web development experience, with a significant focus on the Shopify ecosystem
• Hands-on experience building and launching at least one production-grade application using Shopify Hydrogen
• Proven experience deploying, monitoring, and managing applications on Shopify Oxygen
• Deep understanding of headless commerce principles and architecture
• Extensive experience consuming and integrating with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Strong proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies
• Experience with other React frameworks like Next.js or Remix
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication and presentation skills
