Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising construction activities on site to ensure works are carried out safely, in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, statutory requirements, and project schedule. The role supports the Project Manager in daily site execution and coordination with subcontractors and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution & Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate daily site activities for structural, architectural, and M&E works.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Monitor workmanship, site progress, and compliance with quality standards.
2. Technical & Drawing Coordination
- Review construction drawings and coordinate discrepancies with consultants.
- Prepare and submit shop drawings, method statements, RFIs, and technical submissions.
- Set out works and check dimensions, levels, and alignments where required.
3. Subcontractor & Manpower Coordination
- Coordinate subcontractors' work sequence to avoid clashes and delays.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower deployment, and productivity.
- Ensure materials and equipment are delivered to site on time.
4. Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement QA/QC procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
- Conduct site inspections and rectify defects or non-conformities.
- Ensure proper documentation of inspections and quality records.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and safe work procedures.
- Coordinate permit-to-work activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Support Safety Officer in conducting toolbox meetings and safety inspections.
6. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Track work progress against project programme and report delays or issues.
- Prepare daily site reports, progress updates, and site records.
- Assist in planning work schedules and short-term look-ahead programmes.
7. Consultant & Authority Coordination
- Coordinate site inspections with consultants and relevant authorities.
- Ensure readiness for inspections and timely rectification of comments.
- Attend site meetings and technical coordination meetings.
8. Handover & Defects Management
- Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation.
- Support TOP / CSC inspections (where applicable).
- Coordinate defects rectification during Defects Liability Period (DLP).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant site experience in building construction.
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with Singapore construction standards and WSH regulations.
- Good coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
