Key Responsibilities
Architectural Design & Modernization
Analyze and document 'As-Is' architecture; identify gaps in security, scalability, and compliance.
Develop 'To-Be' architecture for SMTP/email systems aligned with enterprise security policies and cloud strategy.
Design high-level and detailed architecture diagrams for hybrid deployments.
Present architecture recommendations to senior leadership and steering committees.
Infrastructure & Security Strategy
Design and optimize SMTP relay architecture for high availability and fault tolerance.
Define secure network topology for mail routing through DMZ, firewalls, and load balancers.
Implement TLS/SSL encryption for all SMTP traffic and enforce secure protocols.
Configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for domain protection and email authentication.
Integrate Exchange Online and hybrid deployments with secure email gateways (Proofpoint or equivalent).
Embed advanced threat protection and phishing defense mechanisms.
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for vulnerabilities in mail routing and authentication.
Collaboration & Governance
Partner with Network Security, Cloud, Compliance, and Vendor teams to align infrastructure and security with modernization goals.
Provide technical guidance to engineering teams during implementation.
Ensure audit readiness and compliance with SOx, GDPR, and enterprise security frameworks.
Skills and Experience
Deep knowledge of SMTP protocol and RFC standards.
Expertise in Exchange Online and on-premises messaging systems.
Strong understanding of DNS/MX records, SPF/DKIM/DMARC configuration.
Experience with secure email gateways (Proofpoint, Cisco ESA, or equivalent).
Network security fundamentals (firewalls, DMZ, TLS).
High availability and disaster recovery design for messaging systems.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOx, GDPR, ISO 27001).
Scripting and automation (Python preferred).
Ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant messaging systems.
Experience with ITIL processes and ServiceNow CMDB.
