Backend Engineer – Microservices (4-6 Years Experience)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong experience in Java and Spring Boot to design and build scalable, reliable microservices . The role requires solid backend system design skills , experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka , and a strong focus on test-driven development . You will work on distributed systems deployed on Kubernetes using modern CI/CD practices .

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

  • Design and develop microservices using Java and Spring Boot

  • Build RESTful APIs and asynchronous services using Kafka

  • Ensure services meet requirements for performance, scalability, and reliability

    • System Design & Architecture

  • Contribute to end-to-end backend system design

  • Design services considering scalability, fault tolerance, and data consistency

  • Apply clean architecture principles & standard design patterns,

  • Participate in architecture and design discussions

    • Testing & DevOps

  • Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) and write unit/integration tests

  • Containerize services using Docker and deploy on Kubernetes

  • Work with CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment

  • Monitor and debug production issues

    • Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Java (8+) and Spring Boot

  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture

  • Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven systems

  • Strong understanding of backend system design and distributed systems

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD

  • Good knowledge of unit testing and TDD

  • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases

    • Nice to Have

  • Spring Cloud, API Gateway, Service Discovery

  • Observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)

  • Cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)

  • Knowledge of API security (OAuth2, JWT)
