We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our Shopping Platform team, focusing on critical actuation service that powers Amazon's agentic shopping experiences. You'll work on high-scale distributed systems that enable seamless shopping endpoints and multi-agent frameworks, directly impacting millions of customers worldwide

Our solution is live in production today ( and poised for dramatic scale-up as a flagship goal for Amazon Shopping in 2026.

This is a ground-floor opportunity in an emerging space. You'll build critical actuation infrastructure that executes shopping actions across diverse websites. As part of the actuation team, you'll create the execution layer that turns AI agent decisions into real shopping actions.

You'll work alongside a team of passionate, talented engineers, collaborating closely with our multi-agent framework team and other platform components. A day in the life
Core development work: Design and implement scalable actuation services that execute shopping workflows - whether that's building new cart management APIs, optimizing checkout execution flows, or building systems to improve purchase success rates. You'll write clean, maintainable code that handles the complexity of interacting with thousands of different brand websites.

Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Applied Scientists to understand new AI agent behaviors that need execution support, collaborate with the Payments team to integrate secure transaction flows, and partner with UI teams to ensure seamless customer experiences. You'll also engage with Product Managers to prioritize which brand integrations and shopping flows to build next.

Security and reliability: Build secure payment and authentication systems that handle sensitive customer data while enabling automated transactions with strict privacy and security controls.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems
