We are currently seeking a Software Development Specialist to join our team in HYDERABAD, Telangana (IN-TG), India (IN).

Role: Micro Focus COBOL Modernization Developer

Location: Hyderabad/ Bangalore

Notice period: Immediate joiner to 30 Days

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Modernization Specialist with deep expertise in Micro Focus COBOL. In this role, you will play a critical part in our digital transformation journey as we transition our mission-critical legacy mainframe applications to a modern, scalable cloud-based Micro Focus environment.

This is not just a maintenance role; it is a "bridge" role where you will apply your knowledge of legacy systems to architect and implement the future of our core business logic in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Migration & Re-platforming: Lead the technical transition of legacy COBOL code from IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environments to Micro Focus Enterprise Server/Developer on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Application Modernization: Analyse, debug, and modify existing COBOL programs to ensure compatibility with Micro Focus compilers and cloud-native services.
  • Environment Setup: Configure and optimize Micro Focus Enterprise Server instances, including CICS and JCL emulation layers.
  • Code Optimization: Refactor legacy code to improve performance and maintainability while ensuring 1:1 functional parity between the old and new systems.
  • Integration: Develop and maintain interfaces between modernized COBOL applications and modern cloud services (e.g., SQL databases, MQ, REST APIs).
  • Testing: Lead unit and system integration testing (SIT) to validate data integrity and logic accuracy during the migration lifecycle.

    • Technical Requirements

    Core Languages: Micro Focus COBOL (Visual COBOL), IBM COBOL, JCL, SQL.

    Legacy Environment: MVS/zOS, CICS, VSAM, DB2, TSO/ISPF.

    Micro Focus Tools: Enterprise Server, Enterprise Analyzer, Micro Focus Content Hub.

    Database: Transitioning DB2/VSAM to Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server).

    Cloud/DevOps: Azure/GCP basics, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab), Docker/Kubernetes.

    Version Control: Transitioning from Endevor to GitHub.
