What you'll do
We are looking for a Software Engineer – Full Stack with 2–5 years of professional experience to join our Tools & Insights team.
A role for a Software Engineer with a strong full stack developer background, offering opportunities to learn about managing and enhancing systems outside of the traditional developer field.
An opportunity to be part of transforming the Tools & Insights team from being a rather hands-on team managing “customers” (dev teams) requests for even more trivial tasks like onboarding and access requests, to focusing more exclusively on driving engagement and quality-related metrics for the systems we manage.
A primary focus on designing and developing internal tools, as well as creating integrations with the systems we manage.
Exposure to working with Python/Node for backend development and React, JavaScript (preferably TypeScript) for frontend development.
A close-knit team environment that encourages sharing knowledge and tasks while supporting development teams in the Commercial Digital business unit.
Participation in on-call responsibilities while supporting development teams in the Commercial Digital business unit.
Main responsibilities
Design, develop, write, support, and maintain internal tools, frameworks, and full stack applications.
Develop and maintain integrations with the systems we manage.
Manage and support the systems owned by the team, including operational responsibilities.
Support development teams with their daily requests while collaborating with team members through shared knowledge and tasks.
Embrace changes in the range of services and take on new tasks over time.
Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to operational support.
What you'll bring
Required:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong collaborative, team-oriented skills. We work as a team with total trust and respect for each other’s individual abilities.
Experience in full stack web application development, typically using Python/Node (for backend) and React, JavaScript (for frontend).
Solid programming experience in Python (automation, data processing, scripting).
Good understanding of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions primarily; however, experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bitbucket Pipelines generalizes easily).
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Nice to have:
CDN knowledge and management experience, particularly Akamai.
Hands-on experience with Backstage (plugin development, service integration, catalog).
Experience working with modern monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Grafana, Kibana, Apica).
Hands-on experience with at least one relational/SQL database (PostgreSQL is the standard) and one NoSQL/document database, preferably MongoDB, with Cosmos DB also acceptable.
Experience with some kind of test automation framework or service.
Volvo Cars. For Life.
For nearly a century, Volvo Cars has empowered people to move freely in a personal, sustainable and safe way. Today, we are driving bold advancements in electrification, sustainability and automotive safety. To realise our ambitious vision, we are seeking innovative minds who are ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow – today.
In our company, we believe extraordinary things are achieved by ordinary people with the drive to make a difference.
