What You’ll Do

:

SimpliSafe is looking for a Software Engineer - II to join a new Manufacturing and Fulfillment team which owns our backend API and desktop tool for setup/configuration of hardware devices .

Being in the home security domain, we have our own set of , which includes a base station, cameras, and different types of sensors. Hardware manufacturing and fulfillment is managed by our manufacturing and fulfillment partners. 

This team owns the manufacturing and fulfillment support domain, including refurbishment, which entails building backend service to support the desktop applications that are used by our partners. Since this is a closed ecosystem, for security reasons, the team owns the native applications as well. A manufacturing process involves multiple steps, including frequency calibration, tests, programming encryption and certificate information onto the device and the team supports all those phases of manufacturing that would mean working with hardware and devices.

Our primary stakeholders are the manufacturing and fulfillment partners, the manufacturing and fulfillment operations, and the firmware teams.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A collaborative team player with industry experience (2+ years)
  • Writing backend services at scale using one of Go, Java, JS, or C# . We are using typescript in the backend and C# for desktop app.
  • Experience working with desktop applications .
  • Thorough understanding of foundational web service technologies (e.g. TCP, REST, grpc, Protobuf, JSON).
  • Experience with cloud technology (AWS preferred) and designing solutions that leverage its unique advantages.
  • Collaborative mindset and a passion for technology and learning.
  • Practitioner of lean or agile software development principles and practices, understanding and advocating the importance of test automation, continuous delivery, continuous improvement, and value delivery.

    • Nice to haves:

  • Comfortable in dealing with Hardware programmers , frequency counter etc.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, and such)
  • Experience working with one or more of the following data handling technologies (SQL, MongoDB, Redis, Amazon SQS, Elasticsearch, Kafka)
  • Comfortable with the CLI and shell scripting
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS)
