SDET – Software Development Engineer in Test
Core Expectations
· Primary focus on automation testing.
· Manual testing experience alone is not sufficient.
Automation Scope
· Backend API automation
· UI automation (acceptable but optional)
· Candidates must demonstrate:
o Real-world automation experience
o Maturity in automation design and execution
Automation Mindset
· Candidates should ask relevant questions such as:
o Scale of execution
o Frequency of runs
o Sanity vs regression vs full suite
· Strong emphasis on NFR understanding.
· Tool choice is not a blocker, but:
o Candidates must explain why a tool/framework was chosen
o Decision-making rationale is critical
Programming Requirements
· Java or Python is acceptable.
· C / C++ is not acceptable.
· Strong basics required to:
o Write automation scripts
o Understand application behavior
· Deep development-level coding expertise is not expected.

Tools & Frameworks
· Open-source and licensed tools are both acceptable.
· No hard restriction on tooling.
· Paid tools may be considered after:
o Cost analysis
o Leadership approval
· At least one or two framework implementations are expected from candidates to establish hands-on credibility.
