Software Engineer, IoT Reliability (Remote North America)



The mission

Help bring the physical world online. We operate a nationwide fleet of Linux-based IoT devices that power a modern, data-rich platform for real-estate operations. Your work will keep hundreds of devices healthy, observable, and scalable so sites stay online and owners see real performance gains.



What you'll do

  • Design and ship systems that monitor, diagnose, and improve IoT device health at scale.

  • Build internal tools/scripts for device setup, fleet observability, QA automation, and alerting.

  • Contribute to backend services that support device integration, calibration, and reliability.

  • Investigate fleet-wide issues via metrics/logs/telemetry;drive remote fixes to minimize downtime.

  • Tune hardware in the field (e.G., camera exposure, detection modes, connectivity parameters).

  • Run periodic health assessments;recommend firmware/deployment improvements.

  • Be the internal point person for hardware health, sharing clear reports with ops.

  • Author troubleshooting guides and playbooks for consistent deployments.

  • Travel occasionally (~20%;otherwise fully remote) for QA, installs, and on-site debugging.


What you'll bring

  • 5+ years professional software experience.

  • Hands-on with distributed Linux devices/IoT fleets.

  • Python and SQL proficiency;production-quality code.

  • Familiarity with observability/monitoring (DataDog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Strong Linux chops (e.G., dmesg, journalctl, ip, systemd).

  • Connectivity background (cellular LTE/5G, Wi-Fi/HaLow, etc.).

  • Bonus: C++, device telemetry pipelines, reliability platforms.

  • Excellent communicator;comfortable with ambiguity and ownership.
