Software Engineer (Backend-leaning) – AI Travel Startup

Remote (UK / Europe)

Techmunity are hiring an early Software Engineer to join a London-founded, AI-driven travel startup that’s rethinking how premium trips are planned and booked.

The company has just closed an oversubscribed pre-seed round, backed by senior leaders from Bank of America, Google, Barclays and DHL, and already has a live product used by tens of thousands of travellers each month.

You’ll be engineer #3, joining a small, senior team:

  • Founders from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan & Barclays
  • CTO with deep backend / ML experience
  • Founding Engineer (top performer from Spotify)

What you’ll work on

  • Python backend services using FastAPI
  • Data pipelines and complex travel-supplier integrations
  • AI-driven features already live in production (matching, recommendations, validation)
  • APIs and streaming workflows
  • Some React / Node.js / Typescript Next.js work when needed
  • Cloud infrastructure on GCP, with Docker and CI/CD

This is a backend-leaning full-stack role (≈70–80% backend).

Who this suits

  • 2–5 years software engineering experience
  • Strong Python and production API ownership
  • Experience in startups, scale-ups or other high-bar environments
  • Comfortable contributing across the stack when needed
  • A clear pattern of over-performance: early responsibility, fast progression or standout delivery
