Software Engineering Manager - Database

Overview

Engineering Manager – Database at TigerData (formerly Timescale). I am looking for a leader to manage one or two teams responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining specific areas of TimescaleDB. The role is remote‑first, distributed and focused on driving engineering excellence, cross‑functional collaboration, and timely delivery of high‑quality products.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a sub‑team of engineers, fostering continuous improvement, collaboration, and a culture of technical excellence.
• Delivery : Oversee project execution and release status of TimescaleDB, partnering with product management to shape roadmaps and priorities.
• Collaboration : Liaise with stakeholders across the organization to align business goals with engineering objectives.
• Growth : Participate in hiring, interview engineering talent, and grow the teams you lead.
• Communication : Represent the team internally and in customer interactions.

Qualifications

• 2‑4 years of engineering management or senior technical leadership experience.
• Working knowledge of database internals.
• Experience with C/C++.
• Proven ability to lead software development teams delivering database systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Capacity to translate technical details into strategic business outcomes.

Nice to Have

• Experience with TimescaleDB or PostgreSQL and its extensions.
• Contribution to open‑source projects.
