The Solar Farm Technician Associate monitors solar & energy storage farms’ availability and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed when necessary to maintain established safety and operating targets. This position is responsible for executing daily scheduling philosophy, utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by planning, with a focus on maximizing generation and ensuring work is prioritized and completed.
Role Responsibilities:
Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV & battery storage electrical equipmentEnsure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures established for Storage/Solar PV sitesComplete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe mannerProactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and proceduresPerform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirementsPerform balance of plant and switchyard work as requiredPerform maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or LeadMonitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriatePerform current and voltage readings as necessaryDocument all work and generate reports as necessaryIdentify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environmentAt times, may assist with BOP activitiesUse available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actionsEnsure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocolsInterface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilitiesAvailable to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issuesAll other duties as assignedJob Requirements and Experiences:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internet preferredMinimum 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar and battery storage.Unrestricted driver license in good standingWilling to relocate to within 1 hour drive of siteMust be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substations maintenance; power plant safety protocolsKnowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power toolsKnowledge of environmental and safety policies and proceduresAbility to work within tight deadlinesAbility and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assignedAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printerFrequent oral and written communicationsFlexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredComplete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframeFirst aid/CPR/AEDOSHA CertifiedShift workPhysical Requirements:
Work in extreme weather conditionsAbility to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work dayThis position is a combined field and office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locationsMust be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of timeApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
