Solaris to Linux Migration

Exp : 7yrs to 12yrs

Technical Skills Required

1. Linux Expertise (Target Platform)

• Deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

• Proficiency in system administration: Process management (systemd), storage (LVM, multipath), and security (SELinux).

• Strong Shell Scripting (Bash/Python) to automate migration tasks and system checks.

2. Solaris Expertise (Source Platform)

• Understanding of Solaris-specific features like Zones/LDOMs, ZFS, and DTrace.

• Familiarity with Solaris legacy commands and their Linux equivalents (e.g., truss vs strace, snoop vs tcpdump).

3. Database Knowledge

• Expertise in Oracle Database (12c/19c) architecture.

• Experience with Endian conversion (Solaris SPARC is Big-Endian; Linux is Little-Endian).

• Hand-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate for zero-downtime migrations
