Overview
The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen and plays a key role in supporting the Head Chef/Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations. This position is responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and consistency, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and assisting with menu development and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning menus, recipes, and daily kitchen operations
- Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to ensure high performance and teamwork
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to established standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines
- Monitor food quality, taste, portion sizes, and plating consistency
- Oversee food preparation during service and step in as needed
