Your impact  

Reporting to the Director Electrical Engineering, the Specialist Electrical Engineering role provides subject matter expertise to support safe, reliable and efficient electrical engineering operations across Newmont’s mining sites. This role contributes to the performance, compliance and continuous improvement of Critical Electrical Assets and infrastructure through strong technical guidance, risk management and stakeholder collaboration.

As part of our team you will

  • Provide technical advice on the maintenance and operation of electrical systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal reliability and performance
  • Define and collaborate with sites on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime associated with Asset Integrity risk and extend asset life
  • Conduct regular site-based safety and integrity audits to ensure electrical activities adhere to Enterprise level Asset Integrity Management Standard and Implementation guides
  • Monitor electrical performance metrics and analyse data to identify trends, variances and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on electrical system reliability, efficiency and safety to senior stakeholders
  • Identify, record, and track key business risks (level 4+ consequence), collaborating with sites to ensure they are adequately communicated, monitored, mitigated, and reported to leadership and regulators as required. Support and guide electrical engineering and Electrical maintenance teams by sharing technical expertise and best practices
  • Collaborate with site based Asset Integrity and Business Partner stakeholders to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards and contractual obligations
  • Developing an enterprise-wide electrical obsolescence management framework, including supporting activities, and rolling it out across various sites.
  • Conducting life cycle cost assessment for Electrical assets and developing 5Y sustaining capital budgets.

Prerequisites for your success in the role

  • Electrical engineering qualification and relevant professional designation
  • Previous experience in Electrical specialist roles at a Global level.
  • Strong experience supporting electrical systems within mining or heavy industrial operations
  • Proven experience with Asset Integrity Management programs and data driven analysis to support business decisions and continuous improvement;
  • Experience with computerised maintenance planning systems (SAP desirable)
  • Practical knowledge of Asset Management operational and maintenance principles, including implementing best practices and process improvements;
  • Practical and applied understanding of tracking, managing, and correcting operational performance and risk;
  • Practical applied knowledge of safety, health and sustainability protocols and procedures; Demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety, regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Experience in Electrical maintenance, Work management processes performance monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to interpret operational data
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships across operational and technical teams
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills with the ability to learn SAP work management and safety systems
  • Spanish language skills highly desirable
  • Valid driver’s licence

Your work environment 

This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmont’s Perth office in Subiaco, Western Australia. Applicants living in another Australian capital city location or residing near any Newmont Global Hubs will be considered if the ideal candidate.

The position will require flexibility to travel to Newmont office and/or mine site locations on a regular as required basis, including international travel.
