Job Description
The CME Machining Process Specialist works in a Concurrent Engineering environment in all phases of product development, being responsible for converting a design into a manufacturable product. This professional is also responsible for conversion strategies and expansions of production capacity, analysis of footprint, and development of new processes and suppliers for machining processes.
Responsibilities:
- Capex (Investment) and Opex (Expenses) assessments in projects
- Development, implementation, and modification of production lines
- Sourcing of used equipment on the market for retrofitting
- Development of equipment suppliers
- Development of manufacturing processes
Requirements and qualifications:
- Experience machining processes (especially centerless and cylindrical grinding, drills and honing processes);
- Six Sigma (Experimentation, Variance Analysis, Capability, Control Charts, Measurement Systems, DOE);
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturers related to machining (especially centerless and cylindrical grinding, drills and honing processes);
- Labor sizing;
- Time and Method
- Capacity and productivity analysis;
- Production ramp-up strategies;
- Manufacturing process certification methods;
- Cost analysis, verticalization, and outsourcing of manufacturing processes (Make or Buy);
- AQP (Advanced Quality Plan) product and process development methodologies;
- PFD (Process Flow Design), PFMEA and PCP (Process Control Plan);
- Technical drawings reading and GD&T;
- Measurement knowledge (CMM, roundness, roughness, and profile tester);
- Machining process sequence, considering clamping references and stock removal knowledge.
