Schedule Flexibility: Required (weekends, holidays, on-call, overtime as needed) Job Overview The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential operational support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role is critical to ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely handling of clinical specimens in a high-volume production laboratory environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a biohazard environment while meeting strict productivity and quality standards. Key Responsibilities • Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department

• Execute duties including A-station, presort, specimen pickup/delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting

• Accurately enter data at a rate of , alphanumeric keystrokes per hour

• Learn and interpret specimen types related to client-ordered tests

• Maintain compliance with changing test-ordering regulations

• Adhere to productivity, quality, and departmental completion standards

• Work safely in a biohazard environment, following all safety and compliance policies

• Maintain a clean, organized work area

• Communicate effectively with all levels of laboratory staff

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing production setting Required Skills & Qualifications Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Strong data entry and computer skills

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work in a production-driven laboratory environment

• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts Preferred:

• Prior laboratory specimen processing experience

• Medical background or familiarity with medical terminology

• Previous hospital or clinical laboratory experience

• Experience working in a high-volume production environment Work Environment • Production laboratory with emphasis on speed, quality, and accuracy

• Exposure to biohazardous materials
