A specialized opportunity is available for a Speech-Language Pathologist experienced in acute care settings, focusing on oncology-related inpatient and outpatient treatment. This role involves providing expert care to medically complex patients recovering from head and neck cancer surgeries, assessing swallowing function, breathing, and cognitive rehabilitation primarily linked to chemotherapy effects.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing and interpreting modified barium swallow studies and communicating findings effectively to patients.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary care, including collaborating with dietitians on diet progression.
- Managing an average caseload of 6-9 patients per day.
- Utilizing Epic for comprehensive documentation.
- Conducting cognitive and swallowing assessments and developing tailored treatment plans.
