Senior Accountant (E-commerce Experience) - Howard Financial
We are seeking a proactive and technically adept Senior Accountant to lead the financial operations for a portfolio of clients operating high-growth, high-volume businesses in the E-commerce sector . This role is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about technology integrations and mastering the unique challenges of inventory, revenue recognition, and payment processing in online retail.
This is a critical, 100% remote position where system proficiency and meticulous accuracy are key to success.
What You’ll Do
E-commerce Revenue & Inventory Management
- Lead the complex month-end close process , ensuring accurate financials for multi-channel sales environments.
- Perform detailed reconciliation of sales and receipts across platforms like Shopify , Stripe, and PayPal to validate revenue figures.
- Manage inventory costing (COGS) and fixed assets, ensuring proper accounting treatment and valuation specific to physical goods and e-commerce fulfillment.
- Conduct specialized analysis of gross margins, focusing on returns, chargebacks, and fulfillment costs to support client profitability.
- Oversee multi-state and international sales tax compliance.
Technical Systems & General Ledger
- Serve as the primary system owner for the Shopify-to-QuickBooks integration , ensuring continuous, accurate data flow.
- Maintain full-cycle accounting functions: journal entries, AP/AR oversight, and comprehensive GL reconciliation.
- Prepare management reporting packages, including analytical commentary on financial performance and operational trends.
What You Bring (Requirements)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience , with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to E-commerce, D2C (Direct-to-Consumer), or Digital Retail .
- Mandatory Technical Expertise: Demonstrable, in-depth proficiency with QuickBooks Online and the Shopify platform .
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP , specifically related to revenue recognition and inventory flow in an e-commerce setting.
- Experience integrating data from POS/Fulfillment systems into the GL.
- Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proven ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
